who we are

Mission to Mormons is a not-for-profit organization founded in Upland, California in 1991. Today our office is located in the historic Mormon village of Nauvoo, Illinois.

While there are numerous sects that claim to embody the faith first established by Joseph Smith in 1830, our primary focus as a mission is upon the largest of these groups...The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mission to Mormons began the process of merging with the Nauvoo Christian Visitors Center in 2009. The Nauvoo Chistian Visitors Center (NCVC) was established in the late 1980's as a witness for Christ among the tens of thousands of LDS pilgrims who visit Western Illinois each year.

Our mission is two-fold: First, we work to educate the public and equip the Christian community to share Biblical truths with Latter-day Saint friends & family members. We offer training seminars for churches, schools & study groups and we publish a monthly newsletter.

Secondly, we are committed to directly sharing the Gospel of Christ with Mormon people throughout the world. This is accomplished through evangelistic outreaches at large LDS Church events such as temple openings & pageants, through our visitor center, and via this English and Spanish language website. Mission to Mormons has organized or supported outreaches at nearly 20 temple openings on three continents.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

SCRIPTURE. We believe the Bible is inspired of God; it is our guide for doctrinal correction and instruction (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

THE TRIUNE GOD. We believe that the Father, Son and Holy Ghost make up the eternal Godhead. One God represented in three "Persons" (2 Corinthians 13:14).

FALL OF MAN. We believe that man was created in the image of God, but by disobedience he fell from perfection (Romans 5:12).

RESURRECTION. We believe in the literal, bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 16:6).

ATONEMENT. We believe that Christ's sacrificial death on the Cross is fully sufficient to atone for the sins of lost humanity (John 3:16).

SALVATION BY GRACE. We believe that salvation is a gift from God that cannot be earned through human effort. Our good works are a result of a life changed by God, and not the means of obtaining His forgiveness and acceptance (Ephesians 2:8).

SACRAMENTS. We believe that sacraments such as water baptism and the Lord's Supper are outward symbols of spiritual realities (Matthew 28:19).

THE RETURN OF CHRIST. We believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ is imminent           (I Thessalonians 4:16-17).

HEAVEN AND HELL. We believe that Heaven is the eternal home of all born-again believers (John 14:1-3). Hell is the place of eternal separation from God for those that do not place their entire trust in Christ as Savior (Revelation 20:10; 15).

our director

Steve Dealy was raised in a Christian home in Eugene, Oregon. Throughout his youth he had Mormon friends-- as well as a great desire to understand their beliefs. By the time he graduated from high school, Steve had a firm understanding of the differences between Mormonism and Biblical Christianity and sensed that God was calling him to be a missionary to the Mormon people. There was nothing more fulfilling for Steve than to talk with the LDS people about the things of the Lord. In the fall of 1991 he founded Mission to Mormons, which has had offices in Upland, CA; Colorado Springs, CO and Eugene, OR. In the year 2000 Steve heeded God's call to relocate to the Nauvoo, Illinois area where he has continued bringing the Gospel message to Mormons. It is Steve's unwavering hope and prayer that every Latter-day Saint will experience what the Apostle Paul spoke of in Romans 3:20-22:

"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; but rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. But now a righteousness from God, apart from the Law, has been made known, to which the Law and Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe."
